Peralada is not only a well-known place of entertainment with its casino and renowned golf course, it is also an important cultural and artistic center that includes a museum, a remarkable library and an auditorium for its music festival. The library of Peralada was created in the Comtal period and then continued and amplified at the time of Miquel Mateu protector of the written heritage as were the Medici in Italy, the great French collector of the 15th century Jean Grolier, as well as Anglo-Saxon bibliophiles like Lord Spencer or Sir Thomas Phillips.
This library is eminently a large collection of works by bibliophiles. It contains rare copies with autographed autographed autographs, marginal annotations, ex-libris of former owners, numbered copies and limited editions printed on special paper.
Some unique works have great intrinsic value. Reading through all the times and all the themes is possible. The selection of books presented to visitors is difficult and although some books have been excluded (Bibles, music books, children's literature, literature of Greek and Latin classics) this does not mean that they are unimportant.
