Peralada is not only a well-known place of entertainment with its casino and renowned golf course, it is also an important cultural and artistic center that includes a museum, a remarkable library and an auditorium for its music festival. The library of Peralada was created in the Comtal period and then continued and amplified at the time of Miquel Mateu protector of the written heritage as were the Medici in Italy, the great French collector of the 15th century Jean Grolier, as well as Anglo-Saxon bibliophiles like Lord Spencer or Sir Thomas Phillips.
